Catcha’s iflix gets Hollywood bigwigs on its advisory board

INTERNET TV service and iflix has formed an advisory board comprising business and creative leaders from Hollywood, including famous producer Brian Grazer and Metro-Goldwyn Mayer chief executive officer (CEO) Gary Barber.
 
The South-East Asian service, set to soft-launch this month beginning with Malaysia, said the advisory board would allow it access to the advice, strategic input and connections of entertainment industry leaders.
 
The members of the iflix advisory board are:

  • Gary Barber: Co-chairman and CEO of Metro-Goldwyn Mayer (MGM) and Spyglass Entertainment;
  • Anthony J. Vinciquerra: Former Chairman, president and CEO of Fox Networks;
  • Brian Grazer: Chairman of Imagine Entertainment; and
  • Ben Silverman: Chairman of Electus and former chairman of NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios.

The advisory board will be chaired by iflix director and managing partner of Evolution Media Capital, Rick Hess. Hollywood-based Evolution Media Capital and Kuala Lumpur-based Internet investment firm Catcha Group are partners in iflix.

“We have formed this board to assist iflix in the development and execution of its strategy, as well as provide strategic input on iflix’s operations, including content, licensing, production, distribution, technology and content marketing.
 
“The advisory board additionally gives us ears to the ground in Hollywood, allowing the company to better understand the shifts and challenges faced by the global entertainment industry, as well the opportunities that new forms of distribution and production present,” added Grove, also the Catcha Group founder.
