Voice is back
It is a fair assumption that Malaysians prefer to communicate via apps like WhatsApp, or Facebook. In other words, we may likely be spending less time talking on the phone these days.
However, for the second consecutive quarter, Celcom managed to grow its voice segment – which many may have thought no longer possible, that is, making people talk more on the phone.
In Q1 2016, the typical Celcom postpaid user talked on the phone for an average of 305 minutes a month – five minutes more than in Q4 2015. The 305 minutes of usage (MOU) a month is the highest since Q4 2012 when the company recorded 310 MOU!
It is also a sign that customers are starting to make more phone calls, as they may have migrated to the Celcom First Gold plan.
