TEEC partners ROG at 10th and final qualifier of the international tournament

Thirty-one teams compete in the the final qualifying stage of the Taiwan Excellence E-sports Cup tournament

FANS of e-sports were gathered on Sept 9 at Battle Arena, Petaling Jaya to witness the final qualifying stage of the TEEC tournament. The event saw 31 teams signing up to compete at their chance to contest for the US$27,039 (RM113,000) total grand prize at the Grand Finals later this October.

The Taiwan Excellence E-sports Cup reflects one of the rare opportunities where international brands work together with a single initiative to build momentum in developing competitive communities in foreign nations.

This effort is the brainchild of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) and Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) which markets its technologies to foreign interests through events and product showcases.

Attendees at the event were treated to the powerful ROG Strix SCAR III G531 gaming laptop. Participants were encouraged to compete in a friendly match of Dota 2 to experience the latest Taiwanese innovation.

The laptops which are available in the Malaysian market, come fully equipped with the latest Intel Core i7 9750H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU and 16GB of RAM, retailing for US$1,914 (RM7,999).

As the main sponsor and partner, Jason Hsu, product manager of ROG said, “E-sports is becoming one of the biggest and most popular sports worldwide.

Speaking on behalf of venue partner, Battle Arena Malaysia, Tiffani Lim, head of Marketing & PR, said that, "Battle Arena's mission is to provide a training ground for aspiring gamers to kickstart fruitful e-sports careers. Together with TEEC and ROG, we aim to give our young local talents a top-end, professional e-sports experience, arming them with the necessary skills for a bright future in e-sports."

E-sports fans can look forward to the Grand Finale which will happen at Berjaya Times Square on Oct 11 to 13, 2019. The champions of each game category, CS: GO, DotA 2 and League of Legends will win US$2,393 (RM10,000) each, and the winning team for the CS: GO category will further receive a golden ticket to Taiwan to battle with four other countries, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines and India for a US$2,000 grand prize.

The public is encouraged to experience the Grand Finale as there will be sub-game titles such as Tekken 7, Super Smash Bros, PES 2019 and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Winners will go home with a slice of the US$2,154 (RM9,000) total cash prize.
