The Taiwan Excellence E-sports Cup reflects one of the rare opportunities where international brands work together with a single initiative to build momentum in developing competitive communities in foreign nations.
This effort is the brainchild of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) and Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) which markets its technologies to foreign interests through events and product showcases.
Attendees at the event were treated to the powerful ROG Strix SCAR III G531 gaming laptop. Participants were encouraged to compete in a friendly match of Dota 2 to experience the latest Taiwanese innovation.
The laptops which are available in the Malaysian market, come fully equipped with the latest Intel Core i7 9750H processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU and 16GB of RAM, retailing for US$1,914 (RM7,999).
As the main sponsor and partner, Jason Hsu, product manager of ROG said, “E-sports is becoming one of the biggest and most popular sports worldwide.
“In Malaysia, the number of e-sports enthusiasts and fans are constantly growing at a tremendous rate. Asus and Republic of Gamers (ROG) are proud to be involved in this Taiwanese partnership, where we firmly believe this will complement our existing e-sports activities that will inspire gamers to have the best innovative hardware for a truly dedicated gaming experience.”
Speaking on behalf of venue partner, Battle Arena Malaysia, Tiffani Lim, head of Marketing & PR, said that, "Battle Arena's mission is to provide a training ground for aspiring gamers to kickstart fruitful e-sports careers. Together with TEEC and ROG, we aim to give our young local talents a top-end, professional e-sports experience, arming them with the necessary skills for a bright future in e-sports."
