By Goh Thean Eu October 20, 2016
Capital expenditure:
During the third quarter, Maxis' capital expenditure (capex) was at RM249 million, significantly less than the RM333 and RM316 it spent on Q2 2016 and Q3 2015, respectively.
However, on a nine-month basis, it was 10.7% higher than the RM669 million capex a year ago.
In contrast, Digi's nine month capex was at RM540 million, which is about 12% lower than the RM616 million capex it allocated same period last year.
Although Maxis appears to spend more than Digi in capex in terms of absolute number, as well as capex per subscriber basis, both mobile operators have almost similar capex to service ratio.
