MALAYSIAN telco Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (Digi) celebrated its 20th anniversary on May 15.
The company celebrated with its 2,600 employees at its headquarters and offices across the country, and marked the occasion with special promotions for its customers that will run throughout the month of May, it said in a statement.
“Digi has come a long way since 1995, and 20 years is a short time for a business to grow to where we are now,” said its chief executive officer Albern Murty.
“We’re proud of what we have achieved and recognise the people who have made this success possible, both ‘Digizens’ and customers alike,” he added.
In 1997, Digi had a customer base of 150,000 that has now grown to 11.7 million customers.
The company also celebrated its birthday with 116 employees who also celebrated their 20th year with Digi, and individual and enterprise business customers who have been with Digi for as long.
“This speaks volumes about the kind of company Digi is to work for, and believe in,” Albern said.
In conjunction with its 20th anniversary, Digi introduced its RM1-million (approximately US$281,000) prize giveaway for prepaid customers and will soon announce more attractive promotions for postpaid and enterprise business customers.
For prepaid customers, the ‘reload and win’ contest offers prizes such as smartphones, tablets and cars throughout the month.
