WCIT 2022 gains two supporting partners, announces SEADragon

• On look out for top M’sian scaleups to be showcased

The Penang Chambers of Commerce (PCCC) Young Entrepreneurs Section and Scouts Association of Malaysia (Penang) have signed up as supporting partners to WCIT 2022 to promote the event to their members and the community as volunteers for the event.

The National ICT Organisation, Pikom and the organiser of WCIT 2022, expressed its appreciation for this partners, it said in a statement.

Pikom chairman Sean Seah (pic) said, “We are very delighted to welcome the PCCC YES and Scouts Association of Malaysia on board to support WCIT 2022.

“Their contribution to this partnership will include participating in WCIT 2022 as volunteers and promoting the event to its members and business networks,” he said.

At present, PCCC claimed to have over 1,000 members from various business sectors, including enterprises, financial institutions, listed companies, housing and construction, garment and textiles, sole-agents and retailers.

The Scouts Association of Malaysia (Penang) represents the largest youth organisation in Malaysia and claimed to have over 12,000 members. 

Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow who was present at the MoU signing ceremony said WCIT 2022 will provide PCCC YES and the Scouts Association of Malaysia with global exposure.

“We are looking at them shaking hands and networking with world tech leaders, innovators and forward-thinking personalities.  This is definitely a good partnership for them, Penang and Malaysia,” he said.

At the event, Pikom also announced the SEADragon 2022 Program which is presented by SEATech Ventures, an initiative by PIKOM which started in 2018 as the premier sustainable venture pitch platform for startups and scaleups. 

The platform focuses on investments, growth and global market expansion via curated deal flows where promising companies were shortlisted, coached and equipped to be showcased to tech VCs, investors globally, it said.

Seah said SEADragon returns this year and Pikom is looking for the best Malaysian scaleup tech companies to be showcased to the world at the WCIT 2022 from Sept 13 to Sept 15.

“We will have global tech leaders, venture capitalists and investors at the final pitching session. As a run up to WCIT2022, a series of pitching events and training will be held to select and prepare the companies for their pitching session,” he said.
