Hour of Code and Digital Ninja to attract students interested in ICT

Minister of Communications and Digital, Fahmi Fadzil launched the Hour of Code (HOC) #MyGirlsCan 2023 campaign last week. The push begins on 7 June and ends on 14 July 2023 in conjunction with International Girls in ICT (GICT 2023) by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
GICT 2023, celebrated on 27 April, was themed "Digital Skills for Life" to encourage female students' involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education as a preparation for ICT-related employment.
HOC #MyGirlsCan 2023 is open to all schools nationwide and is implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) through the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). It aims to expose students to coding and computer science basics using fun methods. It is implemented online at Code.org, which has impacted tens of millions of students in over 180 countries every year.
MDEC will also implement the Digital Ninja #GirlsInTech program in September 2023 to hone the digital technology skills of female students, providing exposure to critical, creative and innovative thinking patterns as well as problem-solving and entrepreneurship.
