Digital Penang appoints Ng Wan Peng as board of director

Digital Penang Sdn Bhd has announced the appointment of Ng Wan Peng as board of director, effective Jan 4.
In a statement, the state agency said following the appointment of Ng, the board will comprise a total of 11 directors under the leadership of chairman Chow Kon Yeow and vice chairman Zairil Khir Johari.
Ng, is currently president of Big Bad Wolf Ventures Sdn Bhd, and leads the group’s digital transformation agenda.
She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles with Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as chief operating officer, vice president and senior manager for more than 20 years, the agency said.
During her time at MDEC, she led several successful digital enablers from talent development, industry capability development, cybercities, to MSC flagship initiatives among others, it said.
She has a strong track record having led key initiatives in the e-commerce ecosystem, Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ), developing the financial technology ecosystem, and accelerating startups to drive digital transformation at national and international levels, it added.
Chow Kon Yeow, chief minister of Penang and chairman of Digital Penang said as a pioneer in building digital ecosystems in Malaysia with MDEC, Ng's extensive experience and business networks will be invaluable to the state of Penang as it strengthen its focus in attracting investments in digital and software services and create a robust startup ecosystem.
“Through Digital Penang, a government body established in April 2020, we hope to strengthen mobility, connectivity and digital infrastructure where communities and stakeholders can live, learn, work and play in a digitally engaged society,” Chow added.
Ng also currently holds three directorship titles – independent non-executive director in Securemetric Bhd; independent non-executive director, Hong Leong Assurance Bhd; and independent and non-executive director, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd.
Ng received her Bachelor of Computer Science from University Sains Malaysia and was in the senior executive leadership programme of Harvard Business School.
