Sunway Innovation Labs (iLabs) alongside Gobi Partners have kicked off the pre-accelerator phase of the Sunway iLabs Super Accelerator programme.

A total of 28 startups have been chosen to participate in the one-month pre-accelerator, based on their growth potential, market-readiness and synergies with Sunway Group, with sustainability as an overarching factor. All but four were Malaysian based, with three from Singapore and one from Indonesia.

The Sunway iLabs Super Accelerator is a 1 + 3 month accelerator programme for startups to test, validate and scale their businesses. In its fourth cohort, Sunway iLabs seeks startups that are building innovative solutions in one of the six key verticals, namely – Edutech, Smart Cities, Digital Health, Retailtech, Agrifoodtech and Fintech. There were over 100 applicants from different countries across Southeast Asia.

“We believe giving the right platform to entrepreneurs to pilot solutions and gain user feedback is crucial for startups at every stage. We are excited to kick-off the pre-accelerator to match the selected startups to Sunway’s business units. This is the part of the programme where the rubber meets the road and where we get a better understanding of how far these startups could really go,” said Matt van Leeuwen, Chief Innovation Officer of Sunway Group.
