Dr Zulkifli al-Bakri assumes chairmanship of TheNoor, paving way for Middle East expansion

Noor Luminous Sdn Bhd, which operates under the brand, TheNoor, a lifestyle Muslim app which is dedicated to integrating Islamic principles with modern business practices, has appointed Dr Zulkifli al-Bakri as its new Chairman. With a distinguished background as a former Mufti and Minister of Islamic Affairs in Malaysia, Zulkifli brings unparalleled credibility and expertise to guide TheNoor into its next phase of growth and expansion. The Malaysian founded startup recently announced moving its HQ to Saudi Arabia though the bulk of its team will remain in Malaysia.

Zulkifli's career spans decades of service to the Islamic community, marked by his profound understanding of Islamic jurisprudence and his commitment to promoting ethical and responsible business practices. As a renowned Islamic scholar and leader, he has earned widespread respect and admiration both domestically and internationally.

Leveraging his extensive network and influence in the Islamic world, Zulkifli al-Bakri is poised to facilitate TheNoor's entry into the Middle East market, where his credibility and connections will be instrumental in navigating regulatory frameworks and building strategic partnerships.

Towards this end, Maktabah al-Bakri, founded by Zulkifli, and TheNoor have announced a strategic collaboration for the development of an artificial intelligence (AI) system for religious questions and answers in Malay language through a MoU signing. The parties claim it to be the first initiative of its kind in Malaysia and around the world

Mohd Izzairi Yamin, CEO of TheNoor, said, "The opportunity to collaborate with Maktabah al-Bakri is a recognition by prominent figures such as Zulkifli for TheNoor’s efforts for the community."

The collaboration symbolises the commitment of both parties to combine religion with technological excellence in expanding access and understanding of Islam, especially in Malaysia and related countries that speak the Malay language. Other aspects of the MOU include smart cooperation in improving the al-Inarah application and channeling al-Inarah content to TheNoor.

Zulkifli’s appointment and the MOU signed, signify the charting of a new course for TheNoor, establishing it as a global leader in ethical business practices and Islamic finance.
