Peek into lives of Singaporean entrepreneurs

BUDDING entrepreneurs can now get a glimpse into the lives of locally-influenced entrepreneurs in Singapore, as well as their day-to-day struggles and inspirations, through the #OnTheContrary digital campaign hosted on the Master of Science in Technopreneurship and Innovation Programme (MSc TIP) Facebook page.

Supported by the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center (NTC) and the MSc TIP, the #OnTheContrary campaign will feature 24 locally-influenced entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, who will share their personal stories and experiences, as well as any advice they have for other aspiring entrepreneurs.

Through the campaign, readers will be privy to tips otherwise seldom discussed, such as studying yourself more than the market, the importance of having the confidence to fail, the actual lack of a work-life balance, or that entrepreneurs are, in reality, not their own bosses.

By featuring the stories of both entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, #OnTheContrary also encourages for “entrepreneurial thinking”, highlighting the importance and value of acquiring it as a mindset, beyond being just a job and a title.

“Although not everybody is suited to be an entrepreneur, an enterprising mindset can always prove to be beneficial to one, both in personal and professional terms,” said Dr Xia Zhiqiang, director of Graduate Programmes at the NTC, in a statement.

“Having an entrepreneurial mindset in the corporate sector is also very much useful, where one can spearhead new initiatives, or even open up new markets altogether.”

On the campaign page, viewers can also submit their own stories, where they can share their own experiences and have a say on what some of the common misconceptions of the entrepreneurial journey are.
