4 key takeaways from Maxis’ Q2 2016 results: Page 2 of 4

Remember the social media hullabaloo regarding Maxis’ postpaid plan? While the incident may have led to some Maxis customers leaving its network, the nett result does not appear to be as disastrous as one may have expected.

In fact, the company managed to grow its MaxisONE plan subscriptions to over 1.3 million. That is a big improvement compared with the 962,000 subscriptions it had during first quarter of this year.

A big reason why the company was able to grow its MaxisONE subscription may have been Lundal’s swift response to give higher data quotas to existing MaxisONE customers.

Today, MaxisONE customers who pay RM128 a month get a 10GB data quota, compared with the 3GB they were getting in early April. MaxisONE customers who were paying RM98 a month will now get 5GB of data, instead of 1GB previously.

Another interesting point to note is that bundled revenue now contributes over 60% of its total postpaid revenue – a significant improvement compared with the approximately 50% contribution in the first quarter.
