Hitachi Sunway secures deal with Thai electronics manufacturer

IT services and solutions provider Hitachi Sunway Information Systems Sdn Bhd said it has secured a contract with Thailand’s Precise Electric Manufacturing Co Ltd to optimise the latter’s manufacturing resources to achieve higher quality in production output, and better design.

The deal is close to RM500,000 and is Hitachi Sunway’s first and largest Siemens Teamcenter Product Lifecycle Management software sale, the Malaysian-based regional company said in a statement. [RM1 = US$0.31]

The contract involves the implementation of the software solution – a digital lifecycle management system for manufacturing and engineering – in Precise Electric over six months.

Hitachi Sunway group chief executive officer and director Cheah Kok Hoong described the deal as a milestone in establishing his company as a trusted, one-stop partner for IT solutions and services for a diverse range of industry verticals in the South-East Asian region.

“Through this deal, Hitachi Sunway is successfully making inroads into one of the largest manufacturing hubs in Asia, Thailand.

“We are ready to tap into this market with our niche in offering specific IT solutions that range from engineering to IT infrastructure and application development,” he said.

The electrical and electronics industry contributes between 20% and 30% of Thailand’s annual export revenue, Hitachi Sunway said.

Prior to its joint-venture with Hitachi Systems Ltd, Hitachi Sunway (previously known as Sunway S&I Technology Sdn Bhd) had established a business presence in Thailand in 2003.

This presence gave the company gave the company a better understanding of Thai market requirements and compliances, which in turn allows it to better serve manufacturing and engineering based companies, Cheah claimed.

PLM support

Precise Electric selected Hitachi Sunway to implement the Siemens Teamcenter PLM software solution to support its high-voltage equipment production’s design and manufacturing operations, as well to reduce its products’ time-to-market, Hitachi Sunway said.

“Following an extensive evaluation process which included major providers in the PLM market, Hitachi Sunway was selected because of its dedication as an IT solution partner that is seriously working towards improving our engineering processes,” said Precise Electric managing director Anusak Benjachaiyaporn.

Four phrases were mapped out in the plan to automate Precise Electric’s entire production design and engineering development processes. The first phrase was completed in May 2014, covering the basic product data management foundation with key focuses on design management, document automation, resource planning and bill of materials.

Established in 1987, Precise Electric has an annual turnover of RM70 million and over 280 employees in Thailand.
