HSIS takes on Oracle JD Edwards business portfolio in Singapore from S & I Systems
In line with corporate strategy for expansion into SEA for its Enterprise Applications business

HSIS Enterprise Applications Division extends SEA portfolio HITACHI Sunway Information Systems Sdn. Bhd (HSIS) has announced an agreement with S & I Systems Pte Ltd to take over the company’s maintenance, development and service support of Oracle JD Edwards customers in Singapore.

Group chief executive officer (CEO) and director of HSIS Cheah Kok Hoong (pic) said that the collaboration agreement makes way for all existing Oracle JD Edwards customers in Singapore to be supported by a stronger and bigger resource.

“With HSIS, S & I Systems’ Oracle JD Edwards customer base in Singapore will have the support of eight times bigger resource in the team of application support specialists that HSIS has built up since 1991. We are therefore confident of providing better service and all post-sales customer support,” he claimed.

The activities for Oracle’s JD Edwards customer base in Singapore will be taken over by HSIS’ Enterprise Applications division, as part of the company’s strategy to expand its Enterprise Applications business footprint in South-East Asia.

The migration for all S & I Systems' existing Oracle JD Edwards customers to HSIS will also be seamless and is already ongoing, HSIS said in a statement.

S & I Systems chief executive officer Eric Sng said that the agreement with HSIS was "synergistic in terms of a win-win business situation for both companies."

“By passing on the support and services role to HSIS, S & I Systems will continue to focus on JD Edwards systems infrastructure design and implementation in Singapore,” he said.

S & I Systems is a subsidiary of TeleChoice International Limited, which is a unit within the Temasek-owned Singapore Technologies Telemedia Group.

Oracle JD Edwards, a comprehensive integrated suite of enterprise resource planning applications, is the core offering and specialisation of HSIS’ Enterprise Applications business division.

The division is one of the few global teams which have achieved the quadruple specialisations of Oracle JD Edwards applications in Financial, Manufacturing, Distribution and Configurable Network Computing, HSIS claimed.

“The Enterprise Applications business is no doubt very important for the HSIS group; thus moving forward you can expect that HSIS will continually boost up all effort to grow this line of business in other South-East Asian markets, particularly in Thailand,” said Cheah.

Currently, the Enterprise Applications business contributes to over 20% of HSIS annual revenues in Malaysia and around the region, and is expected to continue in an upward trend over the next 12 months with increasing demand for business applications in enterprise corporations.

Some of the notable HSIS Enterprise Applications’ Oracle JD Edwards customers include QSR Brands (M) Holdings Sdn Bhd, Eversendai Corporation Bhd, and Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT).
