DELL has expanded its workstation portfolio and also unveiled the newest additions to its line of commercial PCs.
The company announced the Latitude 7000 Series Ultrabooks, Latitude 5000 Series and Latitude 3000 Series laptops, claiming that they balance sophisticated design, quality construction and uncompromised durability to offer businesses of all sizes a wide variety of solutions.
The Latitude 7000, 5000, and 3000 Series are available with touch display options, leading the way for business touch devices that enable better interaction with customers, enhanced student engagement, improved patient care, and collaboration among knowledge workers, Dell said in a statement.
“These exciting new additions to the Latitude line provide our commercial customers what they’ve been asking for by bringing touch capability to the workspace at desirable price points,” said K.T. Ong, general manager of Commercial Business at Dell Malaysia.
“The new Latitude 7000 Series builds on the success of the award-winning XPS and Latitude 6430u to redefine the corporate laptop, complete with security, manageability, reliability and beautiful design.
“And with the Latitude 5000 and 3000 Series, we’ve addressed the needs of today’s dynamic workforce by enabling easy entry into business-class computing,” he added.
The Latitude 12 and 14 7000 Series come with Dell Data Protection solutions, comprehensive encryption with Dell Data Protection| Encryption and advanced authentication and leading-edge malware prevention with Dell Data Protection| Protected Workspace.
Engineered to help save IT time and money, they also come with exclusive Intel vPro extensions for remote BIOS (Basic Input/ Output System) management and hard drive wipe, even when systems are powered off, and are paired with Dell automated tools and utilities for easy deployment, monitoring and updating of systems.
Each Latitude Ultrabook and laptop is crafted using brushed aluminium, reinforced magnesium alloy, strong steel hinges, woven carbon fibre, durable powder-coated underside, spill-resistant keyboards and LCD seals.
The Latitude 7000, 5000 and 3000 Series touch displays offer Corning Gorilla Glass NBT for up to 10 times higher scratch resistance compared to the soda lime glass that is the predominant material used in laptop screens throughout the industry.
Latitude laptops also come armed with StrikeZone shock absorbers, Fast Response Free-Fall sensors and rubber hard drive isolation.
The Dell Latitude 7000 Series begins at RM3,800 and is available today; the Latitude 3000 Series begins at RM 1,900 and is also available. The Latitude 5000 Series will be available in October.
Most powerful workstations
Dell also announced what it said were its most powerful mobile and tower workstations, the Dell Precision M4800, M6800, T3610, T5610 and T7610, designed to seamlessly run leading content creation, engineering, scientific and other professional software applications.
Updated with the latest high-performance, workstation-class processors, graphics, storage, display and other technologies, the new systems are aimed at creative, engineering and scientific professionals.
“From designing the fastest F1 racecars to creating the most complex visual effects in Academy-Award winning films, our workstation customers require the latest cutting-edge technology to run their critical software applications,” said Ong (pic).
“Our new workstation portfolio gives creative, design and scientific professionals even more power, speed and reliability to imagine, create and accelerate their workflows,” he said.
“Dell’s new Precision tower and mobile workstations, now featuring the latest Intel Xeon Processor E5-2600 v2 family and 4th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors respectively, offer users the opportunity to create, test and modify their ideas as they never have before,” said Prakash Mallya, Intel Malaysia and Singapore country manager.
“Dell is also the first to offer Intel Cache Acceleration Software - Workstation and worked closely with Intel to tune it for workstation applications.
“This innovative caching software uses a solid state drive as a file cache with existing hard drives. This accelerates the storage subsystem to I/O speeds comparable to storage made entirely of solid state drives at a fraction of the cost,” said Prakash.
The new Dell Precision tower and mobile workstations are available with prices starting at RM6,907 for the T3610, RM7,373 for the T5610, RM8,962 for the T7610, RM7,743 for the M4800 and RM8,447 for the M6800.
