PARIS-based Dassault Systèmes has announced a new partnership with FTD Solutions that it said would extend its footprint in the electronics industry in Singapore and Malaysia.
Dassault Systèmes specialises in 3D design software, 3D digital mock-up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions.
In a statement, the company said the electronics industry leads the economies of Singapore and Malaysia with over 25% of industrial contributions annually. Electronics manufacturers in both countries have also continued to move up the value chain to produce higher value-added products.
Within the electronics industry, the semiconductor sector forms a key manufacturing pillar for both countries. It consists of integrated circuit (IC) design, wafer fabrication, and assembly and test activities, the French company noted.
Headquartered in Singapore, FTD Solutions provides total technology solutions for the high-tech industry in South-East Asia. It offers software products in the semiconductor, embedded systems, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) and nanotechnology domains.
It also provides training, design services and consultancy to address customer needs as a one-stop shop. Its customers include Seagate, Infineon, GlobalFoundaries, A*star Labs, Rockwell, Avago, Sony, Micron, ST Microelectronics, Microchip and Bosch.
“The partnership between Dassault Systèmes and FTD Solutions allows us to bring to semiconductor industry sector in Singapore and Malaysia the relevant industry solution experiences,” said Samson Khaou, managing director for Asia Pacific South at Dassault Systèmes.
This includes the company’s Silicon Thinking portfolio of IC design and engineering performance enhancement solutions that it claimed shortens time to market, increases product quality and yield, and improves return on investment.
The portfolio allows intellectual property reuse, requirements and test traceability, integrated issue/ defect management, distributed engineering team collaboration, virtual testing and manufacturing yield analytics.
With these solutions, semiconductor manufacturers can more quickly and easily untangle the simultaneous challenges of increasing chip complexity, lower power consumption, and get faster time-to-production and higher fabrication yields, Dassault Systèmes claimed.
Through the partnership, FTD Solutions will offer Dassault Systèmes’ portfolio of industry solution experiences to its customers ranging from fabless design companies, equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and electronics manufacturing service providers to semiconductor manufacturers.
“FTD Solutions is now able to offer our customers in the semiconductor sector access to Dassault Systèmes’ unique 3DExperience applications in both Singapore and Malaysia,” said K. Satish, sales director at FTD Solutions.
“We will provide them with integrated social and lifecycle information management and sharing. This offers exceptional electronic experiences that help their customers win in the local marketplace,” he claimed.
