Xiaomi announces new arrivals in the Redmi Note 10 series

  • Redmi Note 10 5G among the most affordable 5G smartphones, at under US$200
  • Redmi Note 10S offers a superior camera system without breaking the bank

The Redmi Note 10 5GXIAOMI has introduced two new smartphones in Redmi Note 10 series: The Redmi Note 10 5G and Redmi Note 10S.

In a virtual event on May 20, the Beijing-based smartphone maker announced the two mid-range devices that follow the original Redmi Note 10 and the Redmi Note 10 Pro, which were announced earlier in March.

The Redmi Note 10 5G is touted as one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in the market. Powering it is a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset, which supports a Dual 5G SIM system.

For its screen, the device sports a 90Hz 6.5-inch AdaptiveSync DotDisplay. This means the device’s display will adjust its refresh rate according to the content, such as lowering things to 30Hz or 60Hz while video streaming, or raising it to 90Hz when browsing social media feed or gaming.

This keeps the battery life optimum while ensuring a smooth experience, though the device do come with a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging, the company said.

The Redmi Note 10 5G sports a triple-camera system led by a 48MP main shooter, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. This is not quite close to the 108MP camera system of the Redmi Note 10 Pro and it does lack an ultra-wide camera as with the base Redmi Note 10, but it’s worth noting that both devices are not 5G smarpthones.

The Redmi Note 10S, on the other hand, is a device that sits slightly above the base Redmi Note 10 but lower than the Pro. It comes with a 6.43-inch AMOLED DotDisplay, but doesn’t offer higher refresh rates. It makes up with 33W fast charging and a 360-degree light sensor setup with dual speakers. Powering it all is a MediaTek Helio G95 chipset.

The Redmi Note 10SThe camera system, however, is no slouch. It features a quad-camera setup, starting with a 64MP main camera that is superior to the base Redmi Note 10.

Xiaomi said the main shooter marks a “tremendous improvement” from previous Redmi generations. It also comes equipped with Pro time-lapse, slow motion, night mode and regular time-lapse features, it said.

Juicing the device is a 5,000mAh battery, with 33W fast charging support.

The Redmi Note 10 5G will be available in Malaysia from May 28 onwards, priced at US$192 (RM799) for the 8GB+128GB variant. It will be available online via Xiaomi’s stores on Lazada and Shopee, and offline at authorised Mi Stores and other official retailers.

For a limited time, every purchase of Redmi Note 10 5G includes an exclusive free gift of  Redmi Note 10 5G T-Shirt (offline only), Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic 2 and six-months screen protection warranty for purchases made before Aug 28. This promotion is available on a first-come-first-served basis, while stocks last.

The Redmi Note 10S, on the other hand, will be available starting May 21 for US$216 (RM899) at the aforementioned online and offline stores. For its promotion, every purchase from authorised Mi Stores includes a Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic 2 in a first-come, first served basis, while stocks last.
