In a statement, Digital Realty said it seeks to manage growing demand for data centre services in Asia Pacific, and Dunbar will be responsible for building on the company’s success while developing strategies for new markets.
“Asia Pacific is a key growth region, with a diverse and widespread geography. Our client portfolio has expanded rapidly across our facilities in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, and the list continues to grow,” said chief operating officer Jarrett Appleby.
“We are pleased to welcome Daryl [Dunbar] to the Digital Realty team and look forward to strengthening our presence in the region under his leadership,” he added.
Dunbar has worked extensively with organisations ranging from startups to large multinational and not-for-profit corporations, particularly in the areas of technology, strategy, operations, business design, corporate development and venture financing.
Having lived and worked in the United Kingdom and the United States, he has extensive international and multi-cultural experience in Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America, Digital Realty said in its statement.
He has assisted public companies with portfolio strategy, market creation, market expansion, process development and innovation across all areas of business, the company added.
Prior to joining Digital Realty, he served as head of IT Services at Colt Technology Services, and previously senior vice president of innovation for Reed Elsevier and director of portfolio innovation for the BT Group in London.
He has also held positions with Enron and BellSouth and cofounded several companies.
Dunbar holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He will be based in Singapore.
Digital Realty supports the data centre and colocation strategies of more than 600 firms across its portfolio of data centres located throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.
