Edotco Malaysia appoints Tengku Arif Bendahara Pahang as chairman of Shahzan Alam Muda

Edotco Malaysia has announced the appointment of Tengku Arif Bendahara Pahang, Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al Mustafa Billah Shah (pic) as the chairman of its subsidiary, Shahzan Alam Muda Sdn. Bhd.

Shahzan Alam Muda is the only One Stop Agency (OSA) responsible for all telecommunications infrastructure development in the state of Pahang Darul Makmur. Following Edotco Malaysia’s acquisition of Touch Mindscape Sdn. Bhd. from Touch Group Holdings in December 2021, Edotco now holds an 80% ownership stake in Shahzan Alam Muda.

The company said, under the leadership of Tengku Muhammad Iskandar, Shahzan Alam Muda is poised to revolutionise its operations to become the benchmark for OSA models nationwide, driven by data and digital innovation. Beyond streamlining permitting processes, Shahzan Alam Muda is committed to spearheading disciplined telecommunications infrastructure rollout in Pahang, ensuring equitable access to reliable digital connectivity while prioritising sustainability and green infrastructure.

The firm added that it will support the state’s sustainability goals by introducing digital demand planning to identify network coverage gaps using advanced analytics, thereby facilitating infrastructure-sharing opportunities, eliminating overlapped telecommunications towers and enhancing the state’s landscape aesthetics.

Adlan Tajudin, CEO of Edotco Group, commented, “We are truly honoured by the appointment of Tengku Muhammad Iskandar as chairman of Shahzan Alam Muda and hold firm confidence in the company’s ability to significantly enhance the state’s digital infrastructure landscape under his tutelage. With the recent increase in minimum download standards by the government to 7.7mbps from 2.5mbps, the urgency to address connectivity gaps in Pahang has become even more apparent.”

He added that presently, Pahang lags at 65% 5G coverage in populated areas, compared to the national average of 80.2%. “Therefore, greater collaboration among stakeholders is urgently needed to bridge this digital divide.  As the largest 5G rollout partner, Edotco remains committed to working closely with Digital National Berhad, mobile network operators, municipal councils and regulators to ensure equitable digital access across Pahang,” Adlan said.

Commenting on his appointment, Tengku Muhammad Iskandar, said, “Cognisant of the pivotal role connectivity plays in fostering socio-economic growth, I am honoured to lead Shahzan Alam Muda in our mission to accelerate digital connectivity development across Pahang. Through strategic collaboration with Edotco Group, we will leverage our expertise and resources to bridge the digital divide, enhance innovative infrastructure, and propel Pahang towards a prosperous digital future.”

Tengku Muhammad Iskandar graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom and had a previous attachment in 2015 with the Institute of Strategic and International Studies Malaysia focusing on economics, trade, regional integration, foreign policy and security studies. He also serves as a Representative of the Royal Family with the Pahang State Customs Council.
