- 36-year old is youngest Digi.com CFO, joins from Telenor Hungary
- Believes it important to keep 30-mins for introspection on daily happenings
DIGI.Com Bhd, announced on Friday that it has appointed current Telenor Hungary's chief financial officer (CFO) Nakul Sehgal (pic), 36, as the company's CFO effective Aug 1, 2017.
The youngest CFO in Digi’s history, Nakul, will replace current CFO Karl Erik Broten, 50, who will take up a new role in Telenor Group.
Nakul began his Telenor career in May 2010 as head of financial reporting in Telenor India and has held various leadership positions within the finance function, including vice president and then head of business strategy and performance management in Telenor India in Jan 2014.
"He has led the finance department over the years to achieve business targets and objectives through streamlining operations resulting in higher growth and efficiency," said the Digi statement.
Describing himself, in a 2015 interview with Telenor, as an explorer who explores through engaging with people at all levels across the Telenor Group, because “more often than not, the best ideas stem from places and people that you least expect,” Nakul, believes it important to keep 30 minutes daily for introspection on what has happened during the day.
He likens this introspection period as being akin to meditation – a time when he thinks, reflects and absorbs the key takeaways from his various interactions during the day.
Digi, described by its CEO Albern Murty, as being a company in a continuous state of innovation, now gets a CFO who feels that innovation is directly proportional to exploration and inversely proportional to one's appetite for risks, meaning, if one has a low appetite for risk, then one will invest a lot of time and effort on being innovative to reduce risks and try to guarantee some degree of success.
