CloudMile strengthens commitment to Malaysian market

CloudMile, a cloud and artificial intelligence company in Asia, is strengthening its commitment to the Malaysian market to support local organisations and industries to unlock the value of their data.
In a statement, the firm said its efforts include the company’s rapid expansion plan in Malaysia, pioneering new services built on Google Cloud infrastructure, and contributing to the development of tech talent.
Lester Leong, CloudMile’s Malaysia country manager, said, “We help organisations in Malaysia accelerate their digital transformation and thrive in a cloud-first world by focusing our efforts on three key fronts: empowering local organisations, leveraging cloud infrastructure, and boosting local talent.”
As part of its commitment to the Malaysian market, CloudMile plans to grow its local workforce by five times in the next three years.
Additionally, it said it planned to strengthen its technology capabilities and customer services, especially for financial services, manufacturing industries, government-linked companies and large conglomerates.
Since opening its Southeast Asian hub office in Malaysia in June 2021, CloudMile said it has established a Network Operations Centre to provide 24/7 support to clients across the region.
The firm said it is hiring and developing local talent to make Malaysia a CloudMile regional Center of Excellence for managed services, support, and research and development.
This expansion will also enable it to offer new innovative services such as its public sentiment analysis service CloudMile’s Social Navigator, which provides valuable insights to policy makers and marketers, it added.
As one of Google’s leading cloud managed service provider partner in Malaysia, CloudMile is ideally positioned to help local companies and public agencies take advantage of the newly established Google Cloud region in Malaysia.
It said this enables them to benefit from high-performance and low-latency services through closer proximity of digital infrastructure and applications.
In addition, CloudMile utilises the recent Google and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) partnership in Malaysia to launch its first GCP-in-a-box subscription-based service in Southeast Asia.
Through the partnership, the company said local organisations can now access Google Cloud’s Anthos platform for hybrid cloud services on HPE GreenLake, HPE’s on-premises edge-to-cloud platform.
Cheah Toh Kean, general manager, HPE Malaysia compute and data management said HPE GreenLake will enable Google and CloudMile to deliver on-premises cloud experience for organisations with strict data residency, security, and privacy requirements.
“The HPE GreenLake platform’s pay-per-use billing model means customers consume the capacity they need.
“We are confident that CloudMile’s GCP-In-A-Box consumption-based services offering will deliver the cloud economics and total cost of ownership that the industry is looking forward to,” said Cheah said.
Looking to the future needs of Malaysia’s cloud sector to drive the MyDigital initiative, CloudMile said it is working with multiple local universities and the government to help nurture local talents in AI, machine learning, and data analytics.
