Top Glove taps SAP for business efficiency

  • Enterprise-wide ERP implementation to fully integrate all information silos
  • Customized myTGSAP Project solution expected to go live in the second half of 2013

Top Glove taps SAP for business efficiencyTOP Glove Corporation Berhad has signed an agreement with technology partners SAP Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Brightree Solutions Sdn Bhd to implement an enterprise-wide IT transformation based on SAP solutions. Financial details were not disclosed.

Established in 1991, Top Glove has grown to be the world's largest rubber glove manufacturer, SAP noted in a statement.

Top Glove’s operations span 462 production lines, 24 production facilities across three countries and an export network covering 185 countries. With a view towards rapid expansion and the development of new facilities, the company needed a centralized and systematic business process to manage its business operations.

To do this, Top Glove and SAP started on the ‘myTGSAP Project,’ customizing a solution that would help the company and which is expected to go live in the second half of 2013.

Brightree Solutions will implement the SAP solutions for Top Glove in the area of production, quality management, sales & distribution, materials management and finance. With the implementation of SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, Top Glove will adopt world class solutions to alleviate risks, reduce the cost of compliance, and standardize business operation activities, SAP claimed.

"As we expand our business, Top Glove’s existing IT operations systems have certain limitations in capturing all the information from our business processes,” said Top Glove chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai (pic above, left).

“With information separated from operations, we are unable to fully utilize our data for analytics and decision making. This has hindered the potential for growth as information were siloed and the operation were decentralized.

“Furthermore, the traditional approach presented challenges in terms of corporate governance, hence an increased exposure to corporate and governance risk,” he added.

The myTGSAP Project is an enterprise-wide ERP implementation to fully integrate all the information silos within Top Glove, to give a unified and integrated view of information in a single standard platform, SAP said.

The goal is to provide managers with actionable information so they can analyze strategic options and take intelligent data-based action, ranging from business operation, product development, sourcing to transportation, human resources and investments.

The collected data can be fully traced and analyzed to provide decision makers with real-time insight, SAP said. This will increase automation in operation and minimize manual intervention, increase compliance and lower risk.

"Analyzing data is a good way for businesses to gain insights,” said Kowshik Sriman (pic above, right), managing director, SAP Singapore and Malaysia.

“By breaking the barriers of all the silos of information departments within an organization and placing them in a single platform, we help Top Glove to gain valuable insights for decision making; and help the company to run better as a whole,” he added.
