EY has announced the top nominees for this year’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) Malaysia Awards, which saw two out of three in the technology category being Digital News Asia (DNA) Digerati50 – DNA’s list of figures driving and helping shape the digital economy.
Under the ‘Master Entrepreneur,’ the three nominees also included another Digerati50: Silverlake Axis founder and chief executive officer Dr Goh Peng Ooi (pic). The other two nominees in this category were Tan Say Jim of Iris Corporation and Kho Kak Beng of KKB Engineering.
The Technology Entrepreneur category’s two Digerati50 were Ivan Teh of Fusionex Corp and Liew Choon Lian of MDT Innovations. The third nominee was Seah Kian Hoe of Heng Hiap Industries.
The 16 top nominees in the Emerging, Technology, Woman and Master categories for the EOY Malaysia Awards were determined by an independent panel of judges guided by a set of judging criteria that is consistently applied globally by the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) programme, EY said in a statement.
“We in EY are delighted to produce the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year awards programme to recognise and celebrate the vision, passion and accomplishments of the extraordinary men and women whose entrepreneurial spirit have made a difference to their community and nation,” said EY Malaysia country managing partner Abdul Rauf Rashid.
“These entrepreneurs have helped create employment and generate industry growth, and are a key driving force in the economic development of the nation.
“In today’s increasingly challenging global environment, it is these entrepreneurs who steer us forward with their ability to innovate and persevere along the challenging journey from startup to market leadership, and ultimately, inspire us with their achievements and success,” he added.
This is the 13th year the company has run the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year awards programme in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, nominees in the Emerging Entrepreneur category are Chevy Beh of BP Diagnostic Centre, Lawrence Teo of I Synergy Universal, Calvin Khiu Fu Siang of MK Wedding and Timothy Tiah of Nom Nom Media.
Nominees in the Woman Entrepreneur category are Pat Liew of BTC Clothier, Jerrene Pang of Coolblog Group, Ebby Loo of Euro-Atlantic, Anne Kung of Instacom Engineering, Adelaine Foo of The Otomotif College, and Dr Soraya Ismail of Vitality Boost.

The Malaysian EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2014 will then join country award recipients from around the globe in Monte Carlo in June 2015 to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year (WEOY) 2015 award.
