The smartphone warzone these days are shifting. Sure, we still laud more powerful processors, bigger screens and whenever smartphone makers one-up each other on the camera department. With more proliferation of mobile gaming, though, the next battleground now goes to display refresh rates.
See, displays with higher refresh rates – typically 90Hz and 120Hz – are more suited for gaming. High refresh rates translates to smoother moving images, which gives players a slight competitive advantage if not a more pleasing experience. Smoother displays also feels better to scroll through.
90Hz and 120Hz displays have mostly belonged on high-end flagships and gaming-centric devices – the recent Samsung Galaxy S20 line and the realme X2 Pro being some of them. This makes the realme 6 – which went on sale today in Malaysia – quite intriguing.
The smartphone will be sporting a 90Hz “Ultra Smooth Display” screen, but only prices at US$227 (RM999). realme seems keen to call this a phone for gamers – the device is powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T, a chip designed for gaming in mind. The chip is paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As for juice, it carries a 4,300mAh battery with 30W “Flash Charge”, which realme says can be fully charged within 60 minutes.
The device also features a quad-camera setup, comprising of a 64MP main camera, an 8MP 119-degrees ultra wide angle shooter, a macro lens and a B&W portrait lens that allows for retro-style pics (also featured on the realme X2). The front camera is a 16MP shooter.
“For those known as 'hardcore gamers', realme 6 not only provides the flagship mobile gaming experience but also keeps its priority in terms of photography with the camera at 64MP quality. This time, we are collaborating with Lazada Malaysia by bringing a brand new product that will be available exclusively on realme official store in Lazada,” says realme Malaysia brand manager Tiffany Teh.
The online exclusive channel is due to all realme stores in Malaysia being temporarily closed as part of the nation’s COVID-19 Movement Control Order.
“We’ve worked together with Lazada Malaysia to make it easier for Malaysians to stay safe and shop from home. In conjunction with realme’s #stayREALathome campaign, we will be offering Malaysians a great deal of the latest realme 6 4+128GB to encourage Malaysian fans to enjoy gaming at home as well as capturing more moments with their loved ones.”
