Astro launches Ulti Box, adding to its connected boxes series

  • Works similar to Astro’s Ultra Box, providing HD resolutions, instead of UHD
  • Customers can access VOD via WiFi, cloud recording, Astro’s channels

Astro launches Ulti Box, adding to its connected boxes series ASTRO has introduced the Ulti Box, the latest addition to their series of connected set-top-boxes. This follows the launch of Astro’s Ultra Box back in 2019, which the company claimed has since seen over 200,000 units being installed, the company said in a statement.

The somewhat confusing naming convention aside, the Ulti Box is essentially similar to the Ultra Box in that they offer video-on-demand streaming, cloud recording, the ability to overcome rain-fade issues and access to Astro’s range of channels when connected to home WiFi. What’s different here is that the Ultra Box offers a 4K UHD experience, while the Ulti Box only provides HD resolutions.

There is, however, a brand new remote for the Ulti Box, which Astro said makes navigating “easy and intuitive.” Once connected to the Internet, the Ulti Box can be used to stream Astro’s content ranging from live Premier League matches to channels like HBO, Astro Ceria and AXN.

Astro is offering to swap non-Ultra Box customers to the Ulti Box at a lower installation charge of only US$12.15 (RM49), as compared to US$24.56 (RM99) for new customers.

[RM1 = US$0.248]

As the Ulti Box’s comprehensive features are only unlocked when paired with a WiFi connection, customers can also opt for Astro & Broadband bundles, which packages everything in an all-in-one bill. All customers can get connected with Astro & Broadband from as low as RM6/day for 100Mbps with up to 102 channels.
