Launches free mobile app for iPads, iPhones and Android smartphones
Claims over 10,000 downloads within a week of launch
PROPERTY portal PropertyGuru has launched a free mobile app for iPhones, iPads and Android-based smartphones that offers property search and listing on-the-go.
The app also comes with a location-based service so that users need only launch it to get a list of all available property listings within the area, the company said in a statement.
The listings come with photos, descriptions of the properties, agents’ numbers (which users can direct dial with a single click) as well as other relevant information.
“The idea is to make the experience as quick and convenient as possible,” said PropertyGuru country manager John Paul Sta Maria.
“Ultimately, the app empowers users with comprehensive information so they make informed decisions at each stage of their property search. There are also other components such as access to our comprehensive and fast growing listing database, quick and easy call functions and lots more,” he claimed.
PropertyGuru’s app was launched to cater to a Malaysian population that is increasingly becoming more mobile and in particular, turning to smartphones, the company said.
It was reported that mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common web access device by 2015 in Malaysia. There are now more than 32 million mobile subscribers in the country, it added.
“We are catering to these digital savvy consumers who are constantly on the move and need information on demand at their fingertips. They will find the app perfect for them wherever and whenever they search for property,” said Sta Maria (pic).
PropertyGuru claimed that by Aug 15, less than a week after its launch, the app received over 10,000 downloads. It targets 50,000 downloads by the end of September.
“It’s free and we’d love to hear from Malaysians on how we can make it even better for so that the mobile app becomes their preferred choice for property hunting,” said Sta Maria.
The mobile app is available on the iTunes App Store, Google Play and the landing page of www.propertyguru.com.my/mobile.
PropertyGuru.com was founded in 2006 as a self-funded company, providing consumers with the platform to find properties for purchase, sale, rental or investment and a direct channel to contact agents.

It claims to have over nine million buyers viewing more than 72 million property pages monthly with a growing database of 300,000 buyers and over 21,000 real estate agents.
It claims iIts Malaysian portal, http://www.propertyguru.com.my/ currently has over 900,000 visitors viewing more than 4.5 million pages monthly, with over 115,000 listings and 3,500 agents signed up.
