Telekom to provide UniFi to Temasya housing project in Selangor

TELEKOM Malaysia Berhad (TM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Temasya Development Co Sdn Bhd, a Selangor-based property developer, to provide its high speed broadband (HSBB) services to the latter’s residential development project in Bandar Glenmarie in the state capital of Shah Alam.

“This partnership is an important step towards establishing a good synergy between TM and dynamic property developers like Temasya, for the benefit of home-owners and residents in Selangor,” said Zaini Maatan, state vice president of TM Selangor.

Under the collaboration, TM will provide its UniFi high-speed Internet service, telephony and other telecommunications services to the 60 units of Temasya (Phase 1) as well as Temasya Citra (phase 2) housing development projects.

“Every unit under the development projects will be UniFi-enabled and residents can immediately subscribe to the service upon moving into their new homes,” Zaini said.

To date, UniFi has been made available in 102 areas nationwide with over 1.4 million premises passed, TM said in a statement.

In its effort to expand its service coverage, it has collaborated with 33 local housing developers nationwide via 36 ‘smart partnership agreements’ for the provision of an HSBB network infrastructure to new housing development projects.

TM said it would continue to focus on collaborations with key industry associations as an initiative to improve its outreach to the SME (small and medium enterprise) community, and in this context, property development firms.

Such collaborations will help increase the use of high speed broadband amongst Malaysians and with the establishment of smart partnerships such as this project, TM said it hopes to meet the targets of the Malaysian Government’s National Broadband Plan.
