- Telco partners online travel specialist Asia Web Direct; portal allows for pre-arranging roaming services too
- In conjunction with launch, Travelar.com offering exclusive monthly deals of up to 80% discounts on international hotels
CELLULAR company DiGi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd has tossed its hat into the crowded online travel ring by launching, together with Asia Web Direct, a new online travel portal called Travelar.com.
The new portal is aimed at online shoppers and also provides another avenue for DiGi to reward loyal customers, the company said in a statement.
Travelar.com offers visitors the convenience of searching and booking for accommodations at holiday destinations, as well as pre-arranging essential travel necessities such as voice and Internet roaming services, and personal and travel insurance, on a single platform, DiGi said.
The portal also provides an international database of hotels catering to all segments of travellers. Those who register with the portal would be alerted of the best deals through a weekly e-newsletter which is customisable to match their travel interests.
“Travelar.com reaches out to an increasing number of netizens who shop online with a choice of the best travel and hotel inventory,” said DiGi’s head of customer management, Francis Chang.
“This initiative builds on our ambition to enable access to mobile Internet services and extend the convenience and potential of the Internet to ensure customers enjoy the best usage experience,” he added.
While Travelar.com is open to everyone, there will be distinctive deals tailored and reserved just for DiGi customers on a regular basis, the company said.
“Our broader aspiration is for the portal to be a one-stop travel solution to a growing online community,” said Chang.
“As we further shape the features and functionalities of the portal and bring on board relevant merchants, visitors can expect even more new services and innovation on top of on-going promotions and special deals in the coming months,” he claimed.
Asia Web Direct is a booking company which claims that the key websites in its network attract about two million visits per month, with flexible hotel- and tour-booking facilities.
"Over the past 12 months, we've seen massive growth in the number of Malaysian consumers browsing and booking their holidays or short breaks on their mobile phones,” said Asia Web Direct deputy executive general manager Daniel Finch.
“Travelar.com is a mobile-friendly site with some of the best local and global hotel deals online, with real-time booking and confirmation, all from the Travelar.com website or your mobile phone," he added.
DiGi claimed that Travelar.com provides a user-friendly search and browse function with easy comparison and analysis of search results, besides a Search and Display system that can be personalised.
It offers 24-hour multilingual customer service assistance and nine language options for online navigation.
In conjunction with the launch, Travelar.com will be bringing exclusive monthly deals of up to 80% discounts on international hotel reservations.
