TM teams up with TeAM to bring the cloud to ISVs and SMEsTELEKOM Malaysia Berhad (TM) has inked an agreement with the Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia (TeAM) to bring cloud computing services to Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) via TM’s subsidiary VADS.

Under the agreement, TeAM members would be able to market and sell their cloud applications through TM’s BizApp Store, a self-service web portal that offers a wide range of business applications developed by international software companies and local independent software vendors (ISVs).

“Both parties will be able to leverage on and participate with each other’s joint marketing and sales activities,” said Azizi A. Hadi, TM’s SME executive vice president. “Meanwhile TM is set to benefit from the training, demontrations and troubleshooting provided by TeAM’s ISVs to our personnel under this agreement.”

“TM also sees the collaboration as an avenue to increase broadband usage and accelerate ICT adoption amongst Malaysians,” he added.

At the same event, VADS also signed a separate collaboration agreement with TeAM to provide a cloud platform for TeAM’s ISVs.

The agreement marks a partnership between the two organisations with VADS offering its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service) platforms to local ISVs to develop and test their applications. Local ISVs will also have a chance to promote their applications on TM’s BizApp Store.

“Backed by TM’s extensive network, we provide one of the most comprehensive cloud services in the country ranging from IaaS and PaaS  to SaaS (Software-as-a-Service),” said VADS chief executive officer Ahmad Azhar Yahya.

“In order to promote the adoption of cloud services among local ISVs, we have decided to enter into this partnership with TeAM, gaining access to approximately 400 local ISVs.

“Our collaboration with TeAM is based on reseller model whereby TeAM will be responsible for recruiting its ISV members to come on board the BizApp Store to promote their applications. At the same time, the ISVs can also utilize our IaaS and PaaS platforms for testing and development.

“… Local ISVs can have a platform to develop their applications, and at the same time, an avenue to promote their products,” he added.

TeAM was formed to further the interests of technopreneurs and to assist in the development of the Digital Economy in Malaysia.

“This is where the collaboration between TeAM, TM and VADS will play a big role in helping SMEs in Malaysia,” said TeAM president Aziz Ismail. “TeAM members understand the needs of SMEs.”

Available since May 2012, TM’s BizApp Store is a SaaS marketplace for web-based applications and software.
