Avaya names Mike Muller new Asia Pacific president

BUSINESS communications and collaboration systems and services provider Avaya has announced the appointment of Mike Muller (pic) as its new president for the Asia Pacific region, with effect from March 1.
He succeeds François Lançon who will be leaving the company to take up a new opportunity in the regional IT sector, the company said in a statement.
“Mike is an outstanding leader who combines extensive experience with proven success at the highest level in driving Asia Pacific business growth,” Tom Mitchell, Avaya senior vice president and president, Global Sales.
“As Avaya continues to accelerate innovation in enterprise communication and collaboration to support our customers’ business needs across Asia Pacific, Mike will build on the success François has helped to build, and play a pivotal role in ensuring we can meet the customer experience, video, mobile, social and cloud-based collaboration and networking needs of companies of all sizes throughout this diverse region.”
Muller joined Avaya at the beginning of February 2013, initially as Asiac Pacific (APAC) chief operating officer, to help ensure a smooth executive management transition. He was previously vice president and Asia Pacific general manager at data capture and information management company Intermec.
He brings with him extensive leadership and industry experience having previously led the Motorola Enterprise Mobility business in APAC following the Motorola acquisition of Symbol Technologies, where he was the Asia Pacific vice president.
Prior to that Muller had a 16-year tenure at HP where he held a variety of senior leadership positions which included running HP’s APAC Services Sales, APAC Enterprise Channels and Marketing, supply chain and factory operations for the server business.
Muller’s last role at HP was vice president and general manager for the APAC Enterprise Storage and Server business.
As Avaya’s Asia Pacific president, Muller will be responsible for the sales and overall management of the company’s activities in the region, spanning India, South-East Asia, Greater China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
Muller will focus on supporting Avaya’s extensive current and future customer base, and APAC-wide network of Avaya Connect channel partners and distributors, ensuring all can benefit from the company’s technology innovation and fully leverage Avaya’s focus on ‘The Power of We’ – enabling smarter collaboration for faster decision-making and better business results.
Muller is Australian and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Technology, Sydney at Kuring-gai and a Masters in Commerce from the University of New South Wales. He is based in Singapore.
