Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day clocks best ever single-day performance in history

SHOPEE, an e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, wraps up its biggest annual regional shopping event of the year, Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day, surpassing last year’s record at 7.43am (+8:00 GMT) on Sept 9.
This year’s Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day achieved a new milestone with the highest-ever single day sales performance in Shopee’s history, with over 5.8 million orders recorded; amounting to three times more than an average day.
Over 15 million items were sold within 24 hours. On Sept 9, the number of items sold across the region exceeded 99,999 in less than nine minutes.
Ian Ho (pic), regional managing director of Shopee, said, “As the third instalment of Shopee’s annual regional shopping event, this year’s 9.9 Super Shopping Day is our biggest one yet. The performance of this year’s campaign far exceeded our expectations on all fronts, and we are proud to have achieved record breaking sales with the support of our loyal Shopee users, brands and partners.”
Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day boasted the support of more than seven million sellers, and 10,000 brands across the region. In Malaysia, Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day was extremely well-received, as Health & Beauty, Home & Living, Mobile & Accessories, Baby & Toys and Women’s Fashion emerged as the top performing categories as Malaysians shopped over the 14-day event from Aug 27 to Sept 9.
The debut of back-to-back themed days during this year’s Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day proved to be highly popular, with both sellers and brands enjoying extended reach and sales uplift.
As part of this year’s 9.9 celebrations, Shopee also launched the first-ever Super Brand Festival, featuring the largest collection of deals from leading brands on Shopee Mall.
In Malaysia, top performing brands for Super Brands Festival include Watsons, Reckitt Benckiser, Nestle, TMT by Thundermatch and Loreal.
Across the region, millions of Shopee users took part in Shopee’s in-app game, Shopee Shake and won more than 11 billion Shopee Coins.
In Malaysia, the game was played around 4.6 million times as users shook their way to more savings on Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day. The best “shakers” came two East Malaysian cities - Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, as well as Shah Alam.
