Jelajah Usahawan Digital Selangor is an initiative by the state government through Invest Selangor and the Selangor Information Technology and E-Commerce Council (SITEC) to aid traditional brick and mortar micro SMEs who want to venture into e-commerce.
An outreach programme, it converts the traditional classroom style e-commerce class to an on-site event and is a platform for local entrepreneurs to gain new knowledge related to digital businesses.
The programme is organised to serve the underserved community, in line with the state government’s aim to upskill entrepreneurs, especially those in second tier cities, with the necessary e-commerce and digitalisation skills for them to compete and be successful in the digital economy.
“Learn, unlearn, and relearn is the way forward to survive in the 21st century. It is also the same for businesses. Hence, mastering e-commerce and digitalisation is essential for a business’ success especially under the current Covid-19 pandemic,” says chief executive of SITEC, Yong Kai Ping (pic).
Since February, the programme has been held in Bangi, Klang and Ampang and received an overwhelming response with more than 600 participants in total.
Besides upskilling SMEs and micro SMEs as well as exposing local communities to digitisation, organising the Jelajah Usahawan Digital in each district in Selangor also affords SITEC’s partners the opportunity to reach new merchants in different parts of Selangor and form strong relationships among the local community, state government and industry players.
