MyRepublic launches MyRepublic GAMER Arena tournament series

TO SUPPORT and encourage the next generation of professional gamers in Singapore, MyRepublic has launched the MyRepublic GAMER Arena, an e-sports initiative for aspiring e-sports gamers.

The MyRepublic GAMER Arena is the first e-sports tournament of its kind in Singapore, a “rookie league” that provides competitive gamers to accessible, free-to-participate, regularly-scheduled tournaments for which to hone their skills and win prizes.

The tournament also provides participants the opportunity to meet with other like-minded gamers as well as showcase their skills to teams or brands who might be recruiting.

“E-sports isn’t just about flashy stadiums or big prizes,” said MyRepublic chief marketing officer Shivendra Singh.

“Every serious e-sports player has to start somewhere but it can be hard to see yourself on the pro gamer big stage without a local ecosystem that provides enough support or exposure.

“Gaming has always been a part of MyRepublic’s DNA and the MyRepublic GAMER Arena is our way of supporting the gamer community and bridging the gap for aspiring pro gamers.”

The MyRepublic GAMER Arena will be divided into four seasons, with each season lasting three months.

The first season, which runs from January to March 2019, will consist of six tournaments featuring Dota 2, SOULCALIBUR VI, PLAYERUNKNOWN's BATTLEGROUNDS and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Players can participate in as many tournaments as they choose, with over S$10,000 worth of cash and prizes to be won in Season 1.

Participants can sign up for Season 1 on the MyRepublic GAMER Arena website. More information on future seasons will be released at a later date.

MyRepublic has partnered with GameStart organiser Eliphant and local esports organiser BEast of the East to run the year-long tournament series.

Asus, Sony Electronics Singapore and Secretlab are also official partners for Season 1.
