MyDIGITAL Corporation and Petrosains Sdn Bhd yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to realise the vision and objectives from the Malaysian Digital Economy Blueprint (MDEB) and National Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Policy with the launch of the MyDigitalL 4IR Experience Centre and MyDigital Maker Studio at Petrosains, The Discovery Centre at the Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur.

Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) was on hand to witness the signing of the MOU between Fabian Bigar, CEO of MyDigital Corporation and Ezarisma Azni Mohamad, CEO of Petrosains.

“A key criterion of success for the MDEB and National 4IR Policy that were launched last year is the participation of the private sector. This partnership between MyDigital and Petrosains is the embodiment of the public-private partnerships that will drive and accelerate the agenda of both initiatives, especially when it will help with improving education and participation with the Rakyat. With more such partnerships in the pipeline by MyDigital, I am very optimistic that we can achieve our objective to become a regional leader in digital economy and to achieve inclusive, responsible, and sustainable socioeconomic development by 2030,” said Mustapa.

The MyDigital 4IR Experience Centre and MyDigital Maker Studio are experience and learning centres with interactive and tangible touchpoints for the Rakyat to discover more about the impact of digital and 4IR technologies such as robotics, 3D printing, Internet of Things and Machine Learning.

In addition to the centres, Petrosains will also make available knowledge practices on science, technology, and mathematics (STEM) to students, teachers and the Rakyat in areas aligned to objectives of the MDEB and 4IR Policy.

“The partnership between MyDigital and Petrosains is a key milestone of our Whole-of-Nation approach that MyDigital Corporation has adopted to ensure that no one is left behind in realising the vision and goals of the MDEB and National 4IR Policy. As we have emphasised before, we need all stakeholders, especially the Rakyat, to participate in our national digitalisation journey,” said Fabian.

Furthermore, the partnership between the two parties will extend beyond the experience centres and sharing of knowledge. Both parties will continue to explore other areas of collaborations, including thought leadership activities such as forums, symposiums and conferences for various stakeholders.

“At Petrosains, we believe that successful learning approaches incorporate an experiential focus, with hands-on methods that directly utilise associated skills and knowledge. The intended goal is to build a future-ready workforce, namely with skills that can serve strategies to overcome future challenges, such as digital fluency, data literacy and agile ways of working,” said Ezarisma,

He believes this will serve a greater goal of upskilling a national workforce towards a stronger economy and progress for all.

“In this regard, we are honoured to be able to play a part in the nation’s vision to build a dynamic and agile digital economy because it has always been our goal to foster greater public interest in STEM by making learning fun and interactive. I am hopeful that we can help to inspire and create a new generation of Rakyat that can go on to make their mark in Malaysia’s new digital economy,” he adds.
