SHAZALLI Ramly, group chief executive officer, Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) has started his reign as CEO with a bang, announcing a slew of senior management appointments, picked from within the TM group.

“These are key appointments under our new TM leadership, and part of the next phase of TM’s ongoing transformation journey as Malaysia’s Convergence Champion; building on the strong foundation established by Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa. We are also very pleased to note that all these appointments are internal homegrown talents who have been identified in our leadership succession plan. This is in line with TM becoming a more agile organisation, responding to business and market needs.”

The key appointments announced today include its Group Chief Financial Officer (GCFO) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO).

Nor Fadhilah Mohd Ali will assume the position of Group Chief Financial Officer (GCFO) with effect from 15 May 2017 and holds the distinct honour of being the first woman GCFO for the TM Group.

She is currently the Financial Controller, Group Finance since 16 August 2015. Prior to that Fadhilah was the General Manager, Financial Advisory and Business Development in Group Strategy, TM since 1 April 2008. She started her career with TM as an Assistant Accountant on 2 August 1993. Throughout her career, Fadhilah has gained considerable experience as a strategic finance controller with a track-record in establishing cross-functional partnership and collaboration in delivering results to TM.

Fadhilah holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia and is a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK (ICSA). Prior to her tenure with TM, she was an Auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC).

Another key appointment is Kairul Annuar Mohamed Zam Zam who will be the chief strategy officer (CSO) with effect from 15 May 2017, relinquishing his current position as executive vice president of TM Government and chairman of Managed Accounts Council.

He has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, where he started his illustrious career in TM in 1985 as an engineer. Over the years, Kairul has taken up different roles giving him considerable knowledge in the industry, exposure to regulatory matters and the various stakeholders within the industry.

He holds a Bachelor in Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya. He attended the Advanced Management Training programme at INSEAD.

In addition to the new GCFO and CSO, TM also announced changes in other key management positions*, also effective 15 May 2017.

With the appointment of Kairul as the CSO, his current position as executive vice president of TM Government and chairman of Managed Accounts Council will be split between Azizi A. Hadi who will lead Managed Accounts Council and Mohd Roslan Mohd Rashidi, who will assume the role of Head of TM Government. This is in addition to Roslan's role as CEO of GITN Sdn Bhd – a TM subsidiary that serves the communication requirements of the government sector.

Stepping into Azizi’s recent role of webe digital CEO will be Moharmustaqeem Mohammed.

At VADS Bhd (VADS), Massimo Migliuolo will be handing over the reins to Nizam Arshad as the CEO of VADS and VADS Lyfe Sdn Bhd. With his expertise in the area of Internet of Things (IoT) and smart services, Massimo will be providing consultation work to VADS.

Enhancing the customer centricity drive within Managed Accounts, the Customer Advocacy role helmed by Ahmad Azhar Yahya will be embedded into the business, and Ahmad Azhar, who is also the Chief Digital Officer will be focusing solely on this critical role, reporting directly to the Group CEO.

Nor Fadhilah Mohd Ali, Group Chief Financial Officer

Fadhilah is currently TM's Financial Controller appointed on 16 August 2015. On 1 April 2017, she was appointed to cover the duties of the Company's Group Chief Financial Officer (Group CFO).

As the Financial Controller, she is responsible for, amongst others, financial management, strategic finance, financial strategy and targets setting, business planning, business performance reporting and dialogue, and performance improvement programs of TM Group. In addition, she was also responsible for the selection, development and retention of TM Group's finance talents.

At the same time, she continued holding another portfolio, as the General Manager of Financial Advisory and Business Development, Group Strategy of TM, a position she has held since April 2008. At Group Strategy, she was responsible for, amongst others, strategic planning, transformational programs, business review, business development, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and M&A integration.

She joined TM in August 1993 and has gathered more than 20 years of experience in strategy, corporate and strategic finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate exercises and transformation, business development, financial management and business planning.

Fadhilah began her career in the professional services firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers prior to joining TM. She holds a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from International Islamic University and is a graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK (ICSA).

Kairul Annuar Mohamed Zam Zam, Chief Strategy Officer

Kairul has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, beginning with the then Jabatan Telekom Malaysia in 1985 as a Human Resource Planning Executive. He has since held various positions in local access, switching and transmission networks.

He was appointed General Manager (GM) of the Terengganu Operations Area in 1998 and then as the Personal Assistant to the Group Chief Executive in 2002. He was appointed GM of Corporate Affairs and later Vice President (VP), Consumer & Business Sales Division in TM Retail in 2004.

Prior to assuming his current position as Executive Vice President (EVP), Government, he was the CEO of Telekom Sales & Services Sdn Bhd. Kairul was appointed Managed Accounts Council (MAC) Chairman on 7 September 2016, where under his stewardship, Managed Accounts is embarking on a transformation towards becoming a single entity that focuses on delivering integrated business solutions and capturing new business opportunities.

He holds a Bachelor in Engineering Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the MMU, Cyberjaya, and attended the Advanced Management Training programme at INSEAD.

Azizi A. Hadi, Executive Vice President of Managed Accounts

Azizi has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, which includes engineering, operations, sales, product development and management. He started his career with the Royal Malaysian Army as an Engineering Officer in the Royal Signals Regiment from 1987 to 1996, where his main responsibilities were in planning tactical radio networks, evaluating new equipment and training. Azizi was also the Country Business Development Manager of Global One Communications, an international telecommunications service provider where he was entrusted with the country’s MNC sales in 1999.

Prior to joining TM in 2006, he was with Maxis Communications Bhd as the Head of Broadband Business Unit and in Network Engineering and Operations. Azizi’s career in TM started as GM, Technology & Innovation, TM Retail. He was then promoted to VP of Retail Product in February 2009 where he was responsible for the development and commercialisation of TM’s products and services.

He then became the EVP, SME in 2011 before assuming his role as Chief Operating Officer of webe digital sdn bhd (webe) in 2014. Azizi was appointed CEO, webe on 1 August 2016. Azizi holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Wichita State University, USA, and an MBA from Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Mohd Roslan Mohd Rashidi, Head of TM Government

Mohd Roslan is the CEO of GITN Sdn Bhd (GSB), a subsidiary of TM, a position he will continue to hold. GSB is an official network provider for the e-Government that supports and complements the government’s ICT and Digital Government initiatives.

From 2003-2005, Mohd Roslan was the Chief Technology Officer at TMNet, where he was responsible for the development of TMNet’s network to serve an internet nation, as well as introducing Managed Services applications such as managed hosting and managed data centre.

He began his career with TM in 1990 as an Executive in National Switching Development Unit.  He then served as TM’s representative to Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).  Notably, he was one of the pioneers in drafting the Network master plan for the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), spearheaded the development of Smart School Flagship and led the development of Smart Card application in MSC.

Mohd Roslan was then made State Vice President of TM Johor, where he was a key member in drafting the network master plan for the Iskandar Malaysia Project and subsequently led TM’s Iskandar Development Region (IDR); a focused unit supporting the entire project in Johor.

He graduated from Columbia University, USA with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1984, as the first Malaysian Scholarship’s Holder to be accepted there. In 2003 he gained a Master’s degree in Communications Management, from University of Stratchclyde, at United Kingdom.

Nizam Arshad, CEO of VADS and VADS Lyfe Sdn Bhd

Nizam is the Vice President (VP) of Group Information Technology (GIT) for TM. Prior to joining Telekom Malaysia, he has had several roles in systems support and solution management with global companies including Nixdorf Computer, Ericson AB, IBM Inc and Sun Microsystems Inc.

He joined TM in 2007 where he was appointed as General Manager for IT Architecture to look into migration of all legacy systems. He was later appointed as VP GIT in 2008 to lead TM IT transformation to support High Speed Broadband (HSBB) rollout programme.

He is currently leading the Digital initiative to oversee the optimisation of business processes within network strategy, development and operations and the systems needed to support TM's Digital Transformation. Nizam holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

Ahmad Azhar Yahya, Chief Digital Officer

Ahmad Azhar began his career in 1987 as an engineer in Agilent Technologies (formerly known as Hewlett Packard). He then joined management consulting firm, Accenture in 1990 servicing a portfolio of clients in Malaysia, Asia and the Middle East in various industries from communications to high technology, oil and gas and the public sector.

His experience includes strategic planning and change management, business and operations support systems, enterprise resource management, revenue and customer relationship management. He became a Partner at Accenture in 2000 before joining TM as Group Chief Information Officer on 2 August 2004. He was later appointed TM’s Programme Director of the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) Programme in 2008, and contributed to the successful launch of UniFi in March 2010.

He assumed various positions in TM Group; Chief Strategy Officer of TM from 15 July 2010 until December 2011, CEO of VADS Berhad from 1 January 2012 until 31 January 2015 and TM’s Chief Customer Advocate on 1 February 2015. Ahmad was appointed as Chief Digital Officer on 4 October 2016 to head TM Digital Transformation initiatives throughout the Group and continues to serves as Chief Customer Advocate. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, USA.

Moharmustaqeem Mohammed, CEO of webe digital sdn bhd

Mohar is currently leading Mass Market Marketing Operations (MMMO) since January 2013. He shares overall responsibility for ensuring marketing targets and correlating success parameters for Mass Market segments are fulfilled. He carries the responsibility for the planning and execution of all products and services within TM’s mass market portfolio to ensure that revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. In addition, he serves as a Board Member of TM Research & Development Sdn Bhd, TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd, TM Net Sdn Bhd and TM Applied Business Sdn Bhd.

Prior to joining TM, he has served DiGi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd since September 2003. He started his career in the company as an executive in Project Planning & Control, Technology Division. He was then appointed as Head of Compliance & Strategic Implementation in Network Development before moving to Pricing & Strategy, Product Management.

In July 2008, he ventured into marketing and served as Head of Postpaid and thereafter as the Head of Prepaid. He then proceeded to head DiGi’s Segment Marketing before ending his career with the company as the Head of Market Operations & Commercial Partnerships in November 2011.

Before DiGi, he practiced as an Advocate & Solicitor with Shearn Delamore & Co from January 2001 to December 2003. Mohar read law at the University of Kent at Canterbury, obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Advance Legal Studies from City University London and was called to the Bar of the High Court of England & Wales by Gray’s Inn in 2000.
