Microlink Solutions Bhd (Microlink) has announced the appointment of Ramlee Abdullah (pic) as its new Group Chief Executive Officer to replace Chia Yong Wei who is stepping down from the role after six years.
Jagan Sabapathy, Deputy Chairman of Microlink, said, “Microlink has experienced solid growth over the last few years and is now one of the leading enterprise solutions delivery and systems integration partners in the marketplace. With that, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Ramlee Abdullah as our new Group CEO who takes over from Chia Yong Wei. Ramlee’s extensive experience in the ICT industry serving a wide range of financial services and public sector organisations will be invaluable to us in delivering the next phase of our growth.”
Microlink’s business is organised in four clear pillars spanning Financial Services Industry (FSI), Telecommunications, Public Sector and Distribution streams. “Ramlee will be well supported by the strong contingent of C-Suite leaders that have been put in place to head these business pillars, complemented by their respective teams. Together, they will continue to drive the business forward, under Ramlee’s leadership,” added Jagan.
Ramlee originally joined the OMESTI Group in January 2019 as Head of Sales with a remit to expand the Group’s regional footprint across Southeast Asia for its Digital HR, Core Banking and eCOURTS Digital Courts solutions, in particular in Indonesia and Thailand. In March 2022, he transferred to Microlink to head the Public Sector business pillar and has since been instrumental in significantly raising the Group’s profile with organisations in that sector.
Ramlee holds a track record of more than 30 years in the Banking & Financial Services sector in the Asia, Middle East and Africa regions. He has held senior positions with top tier organisations that include Oracle Corporation, Sunline, HSBC Bank Malaysia, Silverlake Systems and Temenos. With hands-on international experience in multiple territories, he has managed sales and business operations in the Middle East [Kuwait], Asia and China, as well as Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Laos.
Microlink’s sound track record of complex project implementation has enabled expansion beyond its strong legacy in FSI, into telecommunications and the public sector. Recent successes have included a key project valued at some RM35.1 million awarded by Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) Malaysia. The three-year project involves the development of an Open System Platform for the Automatic Awareness Security or AwAS System infrastructure.
The Group was also engaged as a key delivery partner for the implementation of a new Business Support Systems [BSS] platform for a major telecommunications organisation. This has led to opportunities for expansion into other geographies within Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
“Ramlee’s credentials together with the in-depth technical expertise of our business stream teams will ensure that the Group’s strong and steady performance achieved over the last few years continues. It will also ensure that our expansion into new geographical markets and technology sectors is achieved in line with our strategic plans,” said Jagan.
