Lenovo Malaysia is collaborating with SMK Jalan Bukit to foster academic success and support national education goals. A donation of US$9,400 (RM45,000) worth of laptops, equipped with an innovative learning platform, will help the school boost English comprehension and STEM education. This contribution reflects Lenovo's overarching dedication to empowering Malaysian communities through technology.
SMK Jalan Bukit recognises that having strong English skills is crucial for success in STEM. Lenovo, in partnership with Solve Education!, is addressing this by supplying laptops featuring EdBot.ai, a game-based platform that makes learning English fun and interactive, helping students overcome barriers and prepare for future STEM studies.
Puan Noor Lailah Bt. Muhammad Zain, principal of SMK Jalan Bukit said, “Lenovo's generosity will impact the lives of our students. The access to technology provided by this donation will be transformative, empowering our students to engage, create, and innovate within the dynamic realm of STEM."
Lenovo recognises that technology donations extend beyond mere devices. Hence, they incorporate Premium Care support, which ensures SMK Jalan Bukit has access to expert technical assistance throughout the lifespan of the laptops, maximizing their benefits for students.
"At Lenovo, we continuously seek ways to support our community and ensure our efforts have the greatest impact possible,” said Varinderjit Singh, general manager at Lenovo Malaysia. “We selected SMK Jalan Bukit due to their success in an English-language competition and their dedication to gamifying learning for students. To support these innovative efforts among teachers, we aimed to equip them with the necessary tools.”
Through our close collaboration with Solve Education, we aspire to not only provide laptops but also offer the necessary tools and technical support to enhance the learning experience. Lenovo believes that technology and education go hand-in-hand," Varinderjit added.
Lenovo's initiatives align with the Malaysian government's focus on STEM education and improving technology infrastructure in schools. Through the EdVision Community Programme, launched in partnership with Microsoft, the company offers a range of resources, including teacher training, certifications, and community engagement.
To date, the free EdVision Community programme has achieved the following milestones:
- Over 500 educators and 130 students have participated in relevant workshops and training sessions such as the Lenovo EdVision Summit.
- More than 200 educators have obtained Microsoft Certified Educator status, validating their global educator technology literacy competencies.
- Over 5,000 educators have engaged in Lenovo’s industry education events, where they can exchange ideas and stay updated on new technology advancements.
