A total of 4.8 million units of smartphones and 900,000 units of tablets were shipped in the first half of 2015 (H1 2015) in Malaysia, according to International Data Corporation (IDC) Asia/Pacific’s Quarterly Mobile Phone and Tablet Trackers.
Malaysian ICT spending to recover after September
The strong greenback and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) from April 1 have hurt demand for ICT goods and services in the country, but the National ICT Association of Malaysia (Pikom) expects renewed spending in the fourth quarter of this year.
Maxis reports lower service revenue in Q2 2015, profits up
Maxis said its service revenue for the second quarter (Q2) of 2015 was RM2.094 billion, marginally lower than Q1 2015 but 2.2% higher than Q2 2014.
