Lais de Oliveira is hitching her dreams of building a regional commercial/office space powerhouse to competitor FlySpaces’ cart, having agreed to sell her startup, 8Spaces to the Phillipines-based startup.
FlySpaces, the “Airbnb for Office Spaces” announces the acquisition of 8spaces, a marketplace for boutique spaces for work-related activities based in Kuala Lumpur.
Startups and SMEs are exploring options outside of conventional office leasing; thus the trend of short-term workspace solutions, particularly coworking, has taken flight in the region.
FlySpaces, which describes itself as the ‘Airbnb for short-term workspaces,’ said it has gone live in Kuala Lumpur effective May 6, its fourth city after its home base, as well as Cebu and Singapore.
With a presence in over 31 countries across three continents and 1,500 employees, it’s been a rapid ride for EasyTaxi since German-based Rocket Internet acquired the Brazilian startup two years ago. Gabey Goh speaks to regional CEO for South-East Asia, Mario Berta.
