Penang-born Tho said, “It’s a great honour and privilege to be the first Malaysian to be able to showcase our work on the global stage at Google’s Demo Day Asia and I’m truly grateful for our strong passionate team. I believe this opportunity also shows the world that Malaysians are capable of anything. Malaysia Boleh!”

The Demo Day Asia is the first Google’s event in Asia that gives the opportunity for startups in Asia to present their ideas to a panel of leaders from Google for Entrepreneurs, Sequoia Capital and Venturra Capital.

Of the 10 finalists, Swingvy is the only startup working on HR technology representing Malaysia-Korea and will be competing against the other tech startups from China, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Japan, Pakistan, Indonesia and India.

“Out of the 305 qualifying applications, the 10 finalists will take the final stage at Demo Day Asia,” said Michael Kim, partnerships manager, Google for Entrepreneurs.

The winner will receive funding from investors and Google Cloud Platform credits of up to US$100,000.
