  • Aims to create ‘full transparency’ on products, prices and services to guide users

PricePanda launches its services in ThailandPRICE comparison website PricePanda said it has launched its services in Thailand, just ahead of the Thai New Year.

After successful launches of its services in Argentina and Colombia earlier this year, the company now aims to create full price transparency in South-East Asia, PricePanda said in a statement.

Thailand is not only one of the biggest Asian economies, but also one the most promising emerging markets worldwide, and offers huge potential for PricePanda’s business development, it said.

PricePanda launches its services in Thailand“With 66 million inhabitants and a growing and increasingly affluent middle class, Thailand is one of the most attractive and flourishing markets,” said its cofounder Christian Schiller (pic).

“As the number of online shops is constantly rising, customers need our support when looking for the right deal. Our goal is to create full transparency on products, prices and services to guide our users through the different offers by several e-commerce stores.

“But we also support the online shops as we redirect customers to their website and therefore help them to increase their sales. Now we want to kick off the transition of Thailand from a traditional offline market to a prosperous online community,” he added.

In 2012, already 80% of all Thai Internet users were shopping online, PricePanda said without citing a source, creating a boom in e-commerce.

In total, 26 million people used the Internet and accounted for an Internet penetration of almost 40%.

The demographic structure of Thailand also plays PricePanda right into their hands: 70% of all Thais are between 15 and 64 years old.

These facts do not only indicate a high purchasing power but also a high interest in technology. As a third of all Internet traffic comes from mobile devices, Thailand also offers a high potential for further pushing mobile commerce (m-commerce).

On the PricePanda Thai site (www.pricepanda.co.th), users will find prices, information, ratings and reviews of over 500 popular products in categories such as smartphones and tablets. The portfolio will soon include products from other categories such as computer, software, health and beauty, home appliances, music, games and more, PricePanda said.
