Former Spotify senior exec Sriram Krishnan joins HuminSRIRAM Krishnan (pic), who led Spotify’s expansion, growth and partnerships in Asia Pacific, has joined San Francisco-based startup Humin as vice-president of Global Markets, in charge of worldwide growth for the company.

The Malaysian was formerly head of New Markets – Asia Pacific at music-streaming company Spotify, and was instrumental in helping the company launch and grow in the region.

Humin is a phone app that claims to capture all the contacts and remember them in the way users naturally think.

“Not many companies aim to replace the native services on the smartphone. It just blends in to your phone,” Sriram said in a statement.

“Asia is such a key region for us. About four billion people live here. We look forward to working with the various telcos and local phone manufacturers,” he added.

Sriram joined Humin following the recent launch of the service in the United States. The company has also just clinched a group-wide partnership with Deutsche Telekom in Europe.

“The way most smartphone users approach their contacts is fundamentally broken. It’s like search in the early 1990s” said Sriram.

“We used to browse the Web by alphabetical order. We now have the ability to search for information online the way we think about it so you can find what's relevant. Humin can not only predict who you want to connect with, but you can also search for people the way you think,” he claimed.
