SAS Institute said it has appointed Marcio Dobal (pic above) as its regional vice president for Asia Pacific.
Having spent eight years with SAS Latin America, he is now responsible for the SAS Asia Pacific region, where he oversees the company’s business operations and growth of its core analytic business.
Prior to joining SAS, he spent nine years in Asia Pacific where he worked for other global software companies, including IBM and BEA Software, SAS said in a statement.
“Marcio [Dobal] has held various global management positions that make him an ideal choice for heading up Asia Pacific,” said Carl Farrell, SAS executive vice president and chief revenue officer.
“While overseeing SAS Latin America, he created strong leadership teams and led significant growth across that region.
“That combined with his previous experience within the Asia Pacific region and his knowledge of SAS are assets that he is uniquely able to bring to the strong and capable management team already in place today,” he added.
Earlier this month SAS posted its 40th consecutive year of revenue growth, with SAS Asia Pacific contributing slightly more than 13% of revenue.
“Asia Pacific continues to offer enormous opportunities for helping businesses analyse their data to make decisions that help them succeed,” said Dobal.
“My focus is on SAS’ presence in Asia Pacific, and ensuring that customers, as well as employees, are able to tap into all the resources SAS offers across the globe,” he added.
