XIAOMI originally had sold its smartphones and other products exclusively online but that model has since pivoted towards establishing more physical retail stores in its native China via its Mi Home stores.

Now, Xiaomi has officially opened its second Authorised Mi Store in Kuala Lumpur as part of its strategy to provide Malaysian customers with greater access to its wide range of Mi Ecosystem products.

Though the new 940 square feet Authorised Mi Store is smaller than Xiaomi’s first store in Penang, Xiaomi South Pacific Region head Steven Shi assures that it will showcase the very best of Xiaomi’s smartphones and accessories such as the Mi Band 2, Mi Power Bank, Mi Bluetooth Speaker and more.

“The opening of another Authorised Mi Store in KLCC proves that we have great expectations for Xiaomi’s growth in Malaysia. We feel that the Malaysian market has great potential and we are also very excited to be announcing two new smartphones today that showcase Xiaomi’s commitment to being at the forefront of technological innovation while making these innovations affordable to the widest possible range of consumers," he said.

Shi also reaffirmed that Xiaomi will be expanding its Mi Ecosystem of products in Malaysia and we can expect to see some coming soon.

He explained that there are many Internet of Things (IoT) ready products such as a smart rice cooker that can be pre-programmed to cook different recipes, smart luggage bag that you can unlock with your phone, routers, TVs and drones that it hopes will excite its fans.

In Southeast Asia, Xiaomi is slowly but surely expanding its network of retail branches across the region.

Indonesia is a crucial market for the Chinese smartphone maker, with a staggering 15 Authorised Mi Stores. Xiaomi opened a factory there earlier this year.

Xiaomi currently has two Authorised Mi Stores in Singapore and Malaysia as well as one in Thailand.

Moving into 2018, Xiaomi is looking to expand its network of Authorised Mi Stores, operated by CG Computers in Malaysia, to other major cities.
