- First Galaxy smartphone to feature rear dual cameras
AFTER its launch in Malaysia, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 arrived in Indonesia on Sept 25.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available for sale in Indonesia on Sept 29 in Jakarta and Surabaya.
It will be available in three colours: midnight black, orchid grey and maple gold and cost 12,999,999 rupiah (US$974).
The Galaxy Note 8 looks very much like the Galaxy S8 with its near bezel-less design. The main improvement in the Galaxy Note 8 is the inclusion of dual rear cameras.
The Note 8 is the first Galaxy smartphone to feature rear dual cameras with twin 12-Megapixel cameras with wide-angle and telephoto lenses and also an 8-Megapixel front camera.
In Dual Capture mode, the two rear cameras can capture and generate two images at a time, then the user can save both images; a close-up photo of a telephoto lens and a wide-angle photo showing a photo-wide photo lens with wide-angle.
It also has dual Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and a new Live Focus feature that takes advantage of the dual cameras to produce photos with bokeh (blurred background) effect.
Its Quad HD + Super AMOLED Infinity Display 6.3-inch screen utilise Multi Window feature for multitasking.
The defining feature of the Note 8 is the S Pen which has been enhanced with new ways to write, draw and interact with Live Messages that share animated text or drawings across platforms support animated GIFs.
There are additional enhancements made to the S-Pen allowing it write notes on the always on display and perform currency conversions and translations on the spot by hovering the S Pen above it.
On top of being IP68 water and dust resistant, Note 8 is also powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor with 6B of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 256GB and also equipped with 3300 mAh battery capacity.
Other features include wireless charging and Samsung DeX support that lets the Note 8 function like a desktop.
