Ooredoo selects goSwiff as mPOS global partner

DOHA-headquartered Ooredoo Group said it has selected Singapore-based mobile payments and marketing solutions provider goSwiff as its partner for the implementation of an international mPOS (mobile point of sale) platform.

The partnership will cover nine markets including Algeria, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Myanmar, Maldives, Oman, Qatar and Tunisia.

It will include recruiting merchants to the platform, from large corporates to micro-merchants, Ooredoo said in a statement.

“With its comprehensive range of services and international experience, goSwiff is a strong partner to help Ooredoo build our mPOS platform,” said Ooredoo group chief executive officer Saud Nasser Al Thani.

“Combined with its global footprint and extensive capabilities in outsourcing the deployment, merchant acquisition and merchant on-boarding in emerging markets, we are confident that our partnership with GoSwiff will enable us to broaden our offer and engage even more effectively with our customers,” he added.

Ooredoo selects goSwiff as mPOS global partnerUnder the partnership, goSwiff will provide an integrated multi-payment solution including mPOS, mobile money and airtime top-up for Ooredoo’s merchant clients.

The service will also include value added services such as merchant reward programmes to encourage a greater volume of transactions, and consumer loyalty tools that will enable Ooredoo to better engage with its customers.

As part of the agreement, Ooredoo is outsourcing managed services for mPOS to goSwiff, including merchant profiling, segmentation and engagement with different industry verticals.

“Our focus will be on long-term value creation, offering a seamless buying experience to customers, benefitting Ooredoo’s customers both online and at the point of sale,” said goSwiff chief operating officer Stefano Diemmi (pic).

“We look forward to developing new services jointly in the future and bringing innovation into the countries we operate in together,” he added.
