YTL Communications Sdn Bhd has officially expanded its YES 4G network coverage to Sabah, adding mobile coverage in cities and towns in Sabah including Kota Kinabalu, Beaufort, Keningau, Kota Belud, Kudat, Lahad Datu, Papar, Sandakan, Tawau, and Tuaran.
Currently there are five YES retail outlets in Kota Kinabalu – Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, 1Borneo Hypermall, Centre Point Sabah, City Mall and Karamunsing Shopping Centre – where customers can experience YES 4G surfing and devices, and sign up for its plans, the company said in a statement.
“When we started building our 4G network infrastructure, we made sure that we would cover the urban and rural areas throughout Malaysia in our network rollout,” said YTL Communications executive director Yeoh Soo Keng.
“We began connecting Sabah to the YES network on Sept 16 2013, in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of Malaysia Day. I am pleased to share that, to date, more than 60% of the population in Sabah can enjoy the same world-class YES 4G services as the rest of the Malaysia,” he claimed.
The launch also saw YTL Communications signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
The MoU between the two parties is to establish a 4G campus-wide network at Universiti Malaysia Sabah to ensure university students have easier access to the Internet for learning and research purposes, YTL Communications said in its statement.
YTL Communications is a subsidiary and the communications utility of YTL Power International Berhad and part of the YTL Corporation Berhad Group.
