SAMSUNG Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd has announced the launch of the NewsON panel in partnership with Yahoo!, its first such content partner in the country.
The new feature delivers news information and content straight on the Samsung Smart TV in Malaysia. With a click of a remote, users have immediate access – even in low bandwidth environments – to the day’s most popular reports, the company said in a statement.
NewsON is available for free to Samsung Smart TV owners via the Samsung Smart Hub. This new feature offers a snapshot of the latest news and weather in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
The new feature is part of Samsung’s commitment to expanding the TV experience beyond simply watching television and movies to bringing knowledge, news and information to everyone, everywhere, the company said in its statement.
“Keeping in line with our goal to provide relevant and customised content through Samsung Smart TV, our partnership with Yahoo! creates yet another informative avenue for our consumers,” said Samsung Malaysia Electronics managing director Kwon Jae Hoon.
“We have made our Smart TVs more than just entertainment. We have extended the entertainment experience into a dynamic portal of information,” he claimed.
Customers can now access the NewsON panel by simply connecting their Samsung Smart TV to the Internet for an update.
