Foodpanda to use its own fleet in Singapore

FOODPANDA has announced that nearly all deliveries will be undertaken by its inhouse fleet of drivers, a move that it believes will reduce delivery times compared with its previous method of using its restaurant partners’ delivery riders.

The average foodpanda order will now arrive in 30 minutes, the company said in a statement.

This development comes from months of planning and testing new technology systems and inhouse delivery couriers, it added.

Foodpanda said it has a fleet of over 500 motorbike couriers connecting customers with more than 500 restaurants in Singapore.

With the help of foodpanda proprietary technology using an advanced algorithm, delivery routes of riders are intelligently optimised, it claimed.

Now, controlling the entire food-ordering experience allows foodpanda to guarantee a consistent and excellent customer experience with every order, it added.

“Foodpanda’s service is all about delivering the most popular dishes around Singapore from kitchen to doorstep as quickly as possible,” said foodpanda Singapore chief executive officer Jakob Angele.

“Having our own fleet of riders means our service is now more consistent and speedier than ever, ensuring food consistently arrives on time,” he added.

foodpanda also announced new partnerships with restaurants such as Sushi Burrito, District 10, The Assembly Ground and Nandos. It is also delivering hearty soups, stews, salads and sandwiches from The Soup Spoon.

“With foodpanda, we don’t have to dispatch our own staff or hire a third-party delivery company anymore, which saves us an incredible amount of time,” said The Soup Spoon Pte Ltd executive director Anna Lim.
