Pikom elects new chairman, council

THE National ICT Association of Malaysia or Pikom has elected in a new council (pic above) and chairman for its 2013/ 2014 term at its recent 27th annual general meeting (AGM).

The new chairman is Cheah Kok Hoong, chief information officer of Sunway Berhad and chief executive officer of Hitachi Sunway Information Systems, Pikom said in a statement.

Cheah has more than 20 years of experience across the technology, business strategy, industry development and services fields.

His principal expertise lies in business process reengineering, strategic planning, IT direction and policy, finance transformation, system integration, IT and finance operational processes, and supporting regional manufacturing operations, the association said.

“I am grateful for the support and trust bestowed on me by the members of Pikom,” said Cheah.

“[Former chairman] Woon Tai Hai has been a supportive and visionary chairman, and has led Pikom to many milestones during his two-year chairmanship.

“Receiving the baton from him would mean a continuity in our current strategies and plans as I am confident that the five-year strategic direction formed early this year is cognisant of current and future trends,” he added.
